Happy Birthday to the Museum! In the summer of 1986 Florence Petersen began fulfilling a promise made to Myrtle Phillip and Dick Fairhurst that their stories would not be forgotten. Phillip and Fairhurst were concerned that the early days of the valley would be forgotten entirely as skiing became the dominant activity.

The Whistler Museum is excited to announce that our second Speaker Series evening of the year will feature Jayson Faulkner with his presentation, “Huts in the backcountry, now more than ever.” This presentation will explore both the current initiative to complete the hut system in the Spearhead Range and the history of huts in the Sea to Sky corridor.

The Pemberton Film Club will be showing their second film at the Pemberton Public Library on Thursday Feb 16 from 7pm to 9pm. This month the movie is titled “Free Men” (French with English subtitle). The film is set in German-occupied Paris. It follows the story of a young unemployed Algerian named Younes.

No racing experience is required to join in on the fun of recreational racing. Come out and have some fun with your friends in this series held every Thursday throughout the season. Open to skiers, telemarkers and snowboarders, participants' races are video-taped and played at the Kokanee awards party where everyone has a chance to win great prizes.

The Whistler Blackcomb Ski and Snowboard Cross events are recreational competitions open to all ages. Amateur skiers and boarders will compete in different age and discipline divisions on the Nintendo Terrain Park Snowcross course. Places are limited in each category. Pre-registration is strongly recommended through Whistler Blackcomb Guest Relations and Ski School Sales locations.
